2011 Seattle AMA Supercross Results

Spoiler Alert: Seattle Supercross Results Below

AMA Supercross

Tight racing has been the number-one story as the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship dwindles down, and after Saturday night's event in Qwest Field, Seattle, things got even tighter.

On the podium were two familiar riders, and a not-so familiar rider who struggled throughout 2011 Supercross.

Capturing his second-consecutive win in Seattle Supercross was San Manuel Yamaha's James Stewart. Behind the Haines City, Fla., native was Kevin Windham on the GEICO Honda CRF450R; this was Windham's best finish in 2011 SX. Taking third was Two Two Motorsports Honda rider Chad Reed.

The wet race got underway before almost 53,000 fans with Dodge/Hart & Huntington Kawasaki's Ivan Tedesco taking yet another Nuclear Cowboyz holeshot. Following Tedesco was Chad Reed and Stewart.

The points leader, Ryan Villopoto, crashed his Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F on the first corner, and was forced to remount near the end of the field.

Reed made quick work of Tedesco within the first few turns, but had a bobble, which allowed Stewart to take over the lead. Once out front on the Yamaha YZ450F, Stewart pulled away, leading all 20 laps of the main Supercross event.

James Stewart (Yamaha YZ450F) says: "Tonight was awesome. I had fun all day. I thought the track was awesome, it was so tough. I was just trying to stay consistent because I knew it was going crazy behind me. You can look out there and see how rough it is, but my San Manuel Yamaha was working awesome. I'm looking forward to Salt Lake City."

Later in the race, Reed and Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey both went to the ground, but were able to remount quickly. This allowed Windham to move into second, and and the 33-year old remain there to the checkered flag.

Reed and Villopoto would battle for the final podium position, but Reed held of Villopoto, taking third. In fifth was Dungey.

With two rounds remaining, only nine points separate the top-four riders. Villopoto remains up top with 293 points. Reed is six points behind, with Dungey only a point behind Reed. Stewart remains in fourth position, nine points behind the leader Villopoto.

Seattle marked the return of the Supercross Lites Western Regional Championship. Taking his second win of the season was Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda's Cole Seely.

Seely, who raced select Supercross races this season, took the holeshot and lead all 15 laps of the Supercross Lites race. He was joined on the podium by GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac and the series' leader, Broc Tickle on the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki.

Cole Seely (Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda CRF250R) says: "It feels great to come back and get win," said Seely. "I've been practicing my starts and my biked hooked up tonight and worked great. I think the extra time on the big bikes really helped prepare me to come back."

After a week break, the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship continues for the penultimate round at Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, April 30.
